Happy Halloween! What is your scariest adventure moment?
Seasons greetings!
Hope you are all having a good Halloween so far and have plenty of delightfully wicked plans for tonight. In keeping with the theme of the day I was wondering - what is the scariest moment you have experienced in an Adventure Game? Mine? The uncovering of the body in the bath at the begining of Still Life! A truly chilling moment! |
Hi,
Mine was in the boiler thingy in Scratches and a person walked past! I still haven't managed to finish that game... :-) skeeter |
I second skeeter's post. I also jumped at the end scene of Scratches.
|
Dark Fall is the overall spookiest game I've played. From the knocking on the doors, to using a tiny beam of light to explore the hidden crypt, I was on the edge of my seat for most of the game.
But the scariest moment has to go to my first jump out of the seat experience - in Zork Nemesis when you hear the Nemesis' voice for the first time. I haven't played Scratches yet, but I'm looking forward to it. |
Huh...honestly since im AG'ing noob, i haven't been scared in Adventure game.
But farenheit has something...nothing special still. If Silent Hill or RE would be pure AG....then i would choose something from there. |
HI :)
My scariest moment in adventures was that I played Shivers 2 for the first time; the eerie music, the places you have to go to put a certain item, they were all very, very scary. aries323 |
The Ward...now THAT was scary. Back in the days when electronics boutique was still around in the UK. It goes without saying for somebody who got a couple of quid a week, i promptly returned the game within the 10 day period, and tried to forget the horror. THE HORROR!
|
Now I`m working on a little ghost game:GAST
I think it`ll cater to your scary favor:) |
do you have a site for it?
sounds interesting |
Pandora Directive will always have the scariest game moment in it for me: the Area 51 sequence. Getting stalked by an alien entity you cannot see, but Tex can "feel" every once and a while, telling you that the "hairs on the back of his neck have just stood up" every once and a while. Eeee!
|
Yes, that scene in Scratches was really disturbing..
Also Dark Eye has its moment. The scene where Spoiler:was pretty scary. |
Scariest moment for me was in Riven when I turned around after hours of solitary exploration and there was a little girl staring at me on the pathway. Reminded me of a particular scene in "The Shining."
|
Really nice topic idea.
Scratches: Spoiler: Barrow Hill: (This was a true scare) Spoiler: |
If Thief 3 is an AG well, the scene when I was in the attic of the mental institution and the "ghost" appeared, that got me jumping off my chair and untill the game ended I was still under the effect.
If Thief is not an AG well.... Scratches,I was in the boiler and I saw or heard somebody pass by |
"Scratches" boiler scene!
Very scary!:frown: "PQ4" also had some scary moments: Spoiler: |

My scariest moment came from when I was playing Monkey Island; It was just coming up to the part where you land on the island, when two ghost burglars broke in and stabbed me to death.
|
I played the first Phantasmagoria when I was in 4th or 5th grade. It was my first experience with any kind of horror entertainment, and my parents only bought it for me because I promised to play the censored version.
Of course I broke my promise, and ended up being horrified and disturbed when I came upon the first murder scene in the greenhouse. After that scene, I moved through the rest of the game with extreme caution and fear, dreading the grusome scenes that I knew were to come. I remember making my older sister sit with me during the final chapter. Of course, the game now seems absurd to me - mostly because it IS an absurd game. But it's still a guilty pleasure, and a favorite of mine. And it also initiated my love for cheesy horror films. :) |
Dare to Dream still gives me nightmares, but for other reasons... :P
