New game - Alternativa

This looks fairly promising.

Junkface 10-23-2006 06:56 PM

Seems to be going for a decent look and the features list has a few interesting items, however disinclined I am toward anything 2.5D these days or that describes itself as a "typical point click adventure game". One to keep an eye half-open towards.

Fop 10-23-2006 09:20 PM

They have a typo in the title.

TangentBlack 10-24-2006 12:46 PM

I, as well, might keep one eye half open for this one.

Gah?

Fop 10-25-2006 02:09 AM

Oh, nothing. Just... Alternativa. Uugh.

Gonchi 10-25-2006 08:51 AM

That's not a typo, it's a different language. I wonder if they thought it just sounded cool or if there's a reason for it.

Wouter 10-25-2006 09:21 AM

I must say: nice website and great concept art. Is anything more known about this project? I'm really curious to see ingame screenshots as this seems promising.

Christian IV 10-25-2006 09:39 AM

I agree, looks promising, but agree with Junkface, I tend to want to see 3D+ these days after seeing some of the recent 2D+ games like Keepsake,

but it does look nice and promising. Hope they keep going.

Lee in Limbo 10-25-2006 10:00 AM

Intriguing game.

olomaster 10-16-2010 04:42 AM

Hello everybody! I guess some people are sleeping here instead of collecting information. According to this: http://www.centauriproduction.com/alternativa.php
Alternativa will be published IN ENGLISH, in the course of october (yes, this month) through STEAM. There are also more screenshots in there. There are false information on adventure gamers concerning the developer and publisher. Also I found 2 trailers:

Igor 10-16-2010 06:44 AM

Looking forward to this one.

Jackal 10-16-2010 07:08 AM

Yeah, that's us, all we do is sleep around here.

Glad to see the game didn't disappear after all.

Majsan 10-16-2010 08:20 AM

Have checked the trailers and it does look interesting...

Schavc[SLO] 10-16-2010 09:01 AM

Yup...looks good...coming out this october? That would be great, with Gray Matter delayed yet again :)

Followed this link. In the third text passage on this page it says:
Quote
And it's these goals that the heroes of Alternativa try to achieve in the sequel which develops directly from the first part without forcing the player to know all the previously revealed facts.
End Quote

I don´t understand what they mean with sequel. Is this game a sequal or do they plan to do a sequal?

Wow I guess I overlooked that part before. But it seems to me that immediately after releasing Alternativa they will start working on a sequel. Maybe they already did because I think Alternativa is already out in Czech Republic. I'm not sure though.

Thorn 10-18-2010 09:53 AM

This looks really interesting!
The woman's voice is annoying though, unless it's supposed to be a tiny girl or a woman who's got a mental illness.

*shrug*

Really looking forward to it!

mtgmaster 10-19-2010 10:00 AM

Been following this game for ages now, good to see its finally getting a release but for some reason I don't see it coming out this month. I hope I'm proven wrong.

It could refer to the fact that the game is played in multiple parts. The site says this:
Quote:

Alternativa won't come across to players as one long story, but rather as a number of shorter, miscellaneous stories that present people's lives and problems in situations which completely differ from what we can imagine today.
Just a guess though. The text seems translated as well, sequel might not have been what they really meant.

Yeah, you're probably right here.

olomaster 10-29-2010 07:22 AM

There's some news from the developer on the project. Quote from centauri production official site:

Quote:

Release of our games on Steam and other digital distributions have been postponed a few days, because we wanted to make sure everything is working without any glitch. Currently, extensive testing of all titles is going on.

SamandMax 10-29-2010 07:36 AM

I really, really, really hope they hired someone outside to do the translation for the game.

Alternativa Impression (Videos)

Video clips for Alternativa in English have been released. I must say the game looks highly impressive. It now tops my hypometer.

Wow, those are both pretty slick... looking good!

Majsan 11-02-2010 04:10 PM

Have anyone heard anything about the english release of this game?

Read this thread carefully one more time.

Stuart 11-03-2010 03:00 AM

The gameplay looks good but the voice acting sounds pretty poor. Definitely a game that interests me though.

Stuart 11-05-2010 09:35 AM

Has been released on Steam today along with some other games by them:

http://store.steampowered.com/news/4612/

Are there any reviews out yet? Can't find any on Google.

olomaster 11-05-2010 10:14 AM

I'm very happy it's out. Looking forward to some reviews. Terrible timing for me though. Unfortunately it'll have to wait for a few weeks, but I do have Gray Matter planned for next weekend, so... I'm not entirely sad.:)

Majsan 11-05-2010 10:24 AM

Great that it has been released! Now I´m just gonna wait to hear what people think about it...

olomaster 11-05-2010 11:34 AM

Decided that I can't wait any longer, and so I'm downloading it now:). It weights 1840MB, which isn't much, but it doesn't mean anything. I'll post some thoughts later, after I played a bit.

Igor 11-05-2010 11:41 AM

Looking forward to hear your opinion olomaster :)

Does anyone know how long does "special launch price" last on Steam?

Don't know if this is what you meant but Alternativa will be 10% cheaper till November 12th. Which makes it a week. Ironically that's the Gray Matter release date:)

Igor 11-05-2010 01:30 PM

Yes, that's what I meant, thanks :)

Dwagginz 11-05-2010 01:51 PM

Damn, bad timing. Flames of Vengeance came out, Broken Sword Director's Cut seems to have had a price drop (Got it!) and GTA IV Complete was released a week ago.

Typical, but I'll get it as soon as I can! :D

olomaster 11-05-2010 02:40 PM

I played it for like 20 minutes, and so far seems good. Backgrouds look great, the little voice acting that I heard sounded professional. The main character doesn't look as great as the backgrouds but nothing to complain really. The only thing that bothers me is very little hotspots, and so not much to explore. Unfortunately it's pretty common nowadays. The beginning of the story shows great potential, even if we did see some of it's motifs before.

But remember those are only first impressions.

millenia 11-05-2010 05:13 PM

Looking forward to reviews aswell. Not a bad price but a bit too much for me atm just go and buy it blindly. I wonder if these any of these adventure titles from this year will find their way in Christmas and New Year sales...

orient 11-05-2010 06:01 PM

The graphics are quite slick -- the backgrounds reminds me of Dino Crisis 2 (but better). Although, the characters do animate like they're in a PSOne game, rotating on the spot and walking in funny angles.

Judging from that game-play video, the voice acting is rather poor and the English writing lacks elegance. For example, "It seems to be a complex document. There's a lot of data in it." and "This is a huge conspiracy that will eventually affect us all!".

That game-play video had credits at the end...if that was the ending of the game then I think I'll pass

donatelli 11-05-2010 06:25 PM

So I bought the game, and was enjoying the first half hour or so of my playthrough and ran into a game breaking bug. Just a heads up to people who have decided to buy it. It was seriously about 30 minutes in. Picked up an item, and now I'm stuck in said location. This sucks, I was really intrigued by this...

Nevermind - it was an issue when running it windowed (ALT + Enter)...Weird

Igor 11-06-2010 03:08 AM

Sounds great. Downloading it right now. I'm really looking forward to play some sci-fi adventure again.
