George Alistair Sanger, aka The Fat Man, is the composer.

This piece is from The 11th Hour and if I remember correctly (it's been a long while!) it plays a few times during the game rather than in a specific location/event.

It's an excerpt from the track "XDownstairs" included in Sanger's audio CD "7/11" which makes me wonder if this particular piece plays in The 7th Guest too, I'm not really sure... I might be wrong, but I'm sticking with The 11th Hour and The 11th Hour only.

I thought it might have been Fat Man, he's the only one to fit the description. And the tune has the sort of jazzy listlessness of 7th Guest/11th Hour, so I think you're right. Well done ollie!

Ollie's right! (Is it just me, or haven't we seen you in a while?)

It definitely only plays in The 11th Hour. It's used during various puzzles — but I tend to associate it with the stupid train puzzle in particular, since that one takes forever to solve.

(And the "major soundtrack" I mentioned in my previous post was of course Wing Commander.)

Your turn!

It's been a while, yes. I promise I'll try to be a bit more present in forum activities from now on.

Since I actually haven't prepared anything particular (What a shame! But I will be more creative when/if it will be my next turn), I'm going with a tune which I often enjoy listening to.

It's an easy one, I'm sure I will not be required to give you any hints.

Here it is. Game and location, please.

Hey ollie, long time!

Not really sure, could it be The Dig?

Nice to see you again too, diego.

Nope, it's not The Dig. It's a much more recent game.

I thought it might be something from Gemini Rue (since it's supposed to be from a recent-ish game), but after checking the soundtrack it doesn't seem to be it.

Both guesses are wrong but Kurufinwe was definitely closer as far as the time frame is concerned (the game in question was released just a few months before Gemini Rue).

I'm not sure another piece could help you there: I think the track I already posted is arguably the most recognizable of the game. I don't define it as a typical/classic adventure, even if it has its proper review on this site and Mobygames describes it as a "fully interactive adventure game".

More hints (and/or music) later, if needed...

Well done, Oscar
It's Amnesia: The Dark Descent and it's now your turn, of course.

Do you know/remember the location, too?

Side question - how are people getting these clips? Have you ripped soundtracks from the game data files or have you downloaded them?

I'm curious because I'd love to have some of these soundtracks, like for Amnesia.

In my case, it's a mixture of official soundtracks, stuff I ripped from the datafiles and fan recordings. You might find some pointers in this old post in which I had given my sources.

Sounds very Adlib-y, and a bit silly. And it's definitely not something I've played. That's not much to work with.

Let's say... Duckman.
