My turn, my turn, my turn!
Diego's work has prompted me to make a new file for this thread. This one is called Endings, and it's entirely devoted to, well, endings. The music can be from the final puzzle, the epilogue, the end credits, or anything of the sort --- but it always has something to do with the game's ending. The selection of tunes ranges from somewhat devious to insultingly easy (mostly the latter), and from various eras and styles, so there should be a little bit of everything for everyone. As usual, one guess at a time, and wait until I've confirmed it before posting your next guess --- until enough time has passed and I decide that it's first-come first-served for the remaining ones. Track list 1. 0:00 2. 0:33 3. 1:00 4. 1:28 5. 2:00 6. 2:29 7. 3:00 8. 3:32 9. 4:03 10. 4:33 11. 5:12 12. 5:34 13. 6:03 14. 6:33 15. 7:10 16. 7:40 17. 8:07 18. 8:42 19. 9:12 20. 9:45 Last edited by Kurufinwe; 05-28-2011 at 01:39 AM. |

'Insultingly easy' eh? I barely recognised any of these. At the risk of being insulted, I'll have a go at

yaaay new one! Thanks user!
Is 5 from Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist??? Never heard of it but it sounded similair to one in Diego's list. =P is the last one from one of TellTale's S&M games? I'd say its from season 2 because I played season 1 and it's not in there.

14 is Spoiler: Great stuff Kuru, and not an easy medley. I couldn't recognize most of it at first hearing although some of them are really at the tip of my tongue... |

Getting the difficulty right is hard. I always try to balance things: older games and newer games, traditional point 'n click and more original stuff, first person and third person, and also harder ones and easier ones. As I was listening to the file one last time yesterday, I started thinking it was really too easy, especially the second half --- but it was 2:30 AM, so I shouldn't have trusted my judgement then. Listening to it now, I think the difficulty is mostly OK; some are very obvious, some are harder, a couple might be unfair --- nothing out of the ordinary.
And speaking of very easy ones... Quote:
Right! The Riven soundtrack is weird. It doesn't have a single memorable tune that you can hum, but if you listen to anything from it, you know instantly what game it's from. — This is a historical moment, isn't it? Three hundred years ago, the Ritter talisman was stolen by Tetelo. She used it to draw her family to power, while you family withered. She helped provoke the slave revolt in Haiti. She's probably the reason for a lot of the flavor and history of New Orleans -- good and bad. Now she's gone, and your family is restarting. It almost makes you wonder, doesn't it, if it wasn't supposed to happen this way? You know, good coming from evil? The Jane Jensen apologists can sometimes get on my nerves, but --- when you think about this wonderful scene, can you blame them? Quote:
Of course. I had decided I absolutely wanted that one, and #20, and the whole "endings" theme stemmed from there. (and speaking of this soundtrack...) That's right too. I miss Tex. Quote:
No hints yet, but here are a few stats, which might or might not prove helpful. Out of the 20 games used...
Good work, still 14 to go! The updated track list: 1. 0:00 2. 0:33 3. 1:00 Escape from Monkey Island, Ultimate Monkey Kombat [DustCropper] 4. 1:28 5. 2:00 6. 2:29 The 7th Guest, Stauf defeated [Oscar] 7. 3:00 8. 3:32 9. 4:03 10. 4:33 Portal 2, Cara mia [Shany] 11. 5:12 12. 5:34 Riven, The fissure [SpeedBo] 13. 6:03 Gabriel Knight, Epilogue [kate me] 14. 6:33 Tex Murphy: Overseer, Trying to Try [diego] 15. 7:10 16. 7:40 17. 8:07 18. 8:42 19. 9:12 20. 9:45 Last edited by Kurufinwe; 05-28-2011 at 12:03 PM. |

I know 20. is from
Spoiler: I recognize 2, I feel like I just heard it, but I can't remember from where! I feel 15. sounds like a Spoiler:game, without having played one, so its not really an "official" guess.

Several new guesses... most of them wrong. I guess it's time to start giving hints.
Quote:
Quote:
You're very warm, but that's too sad for RTMI's ending, isn't it? Quote:
HINTS: 1. Defeating the bad guy just by... looking through a window?!? 2. This is an orchestral rendition of the piece; it doesn't sound nearly as good in-game. 4. Choose how to resolve an interesting time paradox. 5. You know you know this one. Just try to imagine a more upbeat version of the tune, and you'll recognise it instantly. 7. Long epilogue explaining what happened to each of the characters. 8. Don't let the style fool you. This is a surprising coda to an otherwise very fantasy-ish game (and soundtrack). 9. A final puzzle that turns the game upside-down --- in more ways than one. 11. Turn your computer off and go to sleep! Or something like that. 15. Panthera might have been somewhat on the right track. 16. (Tough one.) Third and final game in a series, somewhat disappointing. 19. See above. 20. See above. The updated track list: 1. 0:00 2. 0:33 3. 1:00 Escape from Monkey Island, Ultimate Monkey Kombat [DustCropper] 4. 1:28 5. 2:00 6. 2:29 The 7th Guest, Stauf defeated [Oscar] 7. 3:00 8. 3:32 9. 4:03 10. 4:33 Portal 2, Cara mia [Shany] 11. 5:12 12. 5:34 Riven, The fissure [SpeedBo] 13. 6:03 Gabriel Knight, Epilogue [kate me] 14. 6:33 Tex Murphy: Overseer, Trying to Try [diego] 15. 7:10 16. 7:40 17. 8:07 18. 8:42 The Dig, Spacetime Six [kate me] 19. 9:12 20. 9:45 |

#8 sounds like Spoiler:Right after the Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! But it's too tech-modernish from the version I played. Is it a mix or an odd coincidence?! |
