I would just take a stab in the dark as I'm no good at recognising any of the remaining tracks, but based on the hints (and the style of music really wouldn't surprise me if it popped up on this title) could #20 be Still Life 2? I only played the first bit of the game and couldn't bring myself to play any more...
EDIT: Oh haha dang, just too late! And it was even the menu music?! Shows how un-memorable it is I suppose...

#20 is indeed the Menu Music from Still Life 2. A game far from being a masterpiece, but surely not short of surprises.

#2 is the art gallery from Uru. I personally prefer the theme of the Great Tree (from Path of the Shell), but it's true that generally Uru had a lot of nice music.
I guess #7 could be the theme that plays in the Whitechapel streets (i.e. for 80% of the game) in SH vs. Jack the Ripper (best game in the series, BTW). And looking through my collection reveals that #13 is from Emily's encounter with the Black Arrow Killer in The Pandora Directive. I would never have found it without the hints. Am I the only one who thinks this piece sounds extremely Star-Warsy? And I'm pretty sure that's all I know. |

I thought the Kadish Tolesa art gallery theme would have been the first one guessed correctly. Anyone who played the game can't forget this tune: after several years it's still the most listened to by myself in all six Myst soundtracks. And by the way, the theme of The Great Tree is the second best single piece of music ever made in my opinion. I agree, Sherlock Holmes Vs. Jack the Ripper is the best game in the series. Until now at least... Can't wait for The Testament of SH to be released! Now that I think of it, this piece of Pandora Directive resembles some of the Star Wars melodies, yes. Only four left. Has someone recognized the missing ones based on the hints I gave earlier? 01 (00:00): The Abbey - In Memoriam (Intro Music) [HandsFree] 02 (00:44): Uru: Ages Beyond Myst - Gallery Theme [Kurufinwe] 03 (01:15): .................... - .................... 04 (01:53): Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon - Bruno's Sacrifice [Shany] 05 (02:17): .................... - .................... 06 (02:42): A Vampyre Story - Memories (Mona's Room) [diego] 07 (03:20): Sherlock Holmes Vs. based on hints #3 could be Azrael's Tear? And #5 and #10 could be Syberia 2 and Ankh 3 but i wouldn't know the exact locations
about Sherlock Holmes games, i still think The Case of The Silver Earring is best one from Frogwares since it resembles the most Granada's TV series which i simply adore :p Last edited by diego; 08-04-2010 at 01:15 AM. |

Let's see if someone else remembers the location of tracks #3 and #10, or else I'll reveal it later. |

Fun game and great compilation!
I believe track #11 is from Zork: Grand Inquisitor, though it's been so long that I can't remember which scene exactly. Perhaps the beginning at Port Foozle? Such a classic game! |

Well, I think it's now time to officially end the contest.
All the games were identified, only three events/locations were missing: #3 from Azrael's Tear, is the music played in the Orrery room. The music from this old game is still one of my favourite, so I just had to put the best tune in the medley... #10 from Ankh: Battle Of The Gods, is the music played in the Nordic Village. And #18 from Everlight Of Magic And Power, is the music played in the city of Tallon during the day. Actually there are two or three more tunes that alternate in that part of the game, but I 'm quite sure this is the tune which is played in the main city square (and maybe in a couple more locations too...). A big thank you to all the participants! It's been great fun! |

great work, especially because of Da Vinci's song
Black Mirror tune is also nice and same goes to Ankh as for Everlight i haven't figured it had such a nice music probably because of the fact i haven't gotten far into the game and Uru - never knew it had such well produced music Last edited by diego; 08-04-2010 at 12:56 PM. |

I've played 14 of the 20 games and although some pieces of music sounded vaguely familiar, I recognized only 4: ZorkGI, the Lost Crown, the Whispered World and the Abbey. That's terrible.

Thanks Ollie, that was fun!
How did you get the music from Everlight, by the way? |

All right, i've come up with another medley if you'd like to take a guess on it. There are 20 different games to guess and you should guess them by giving the name of the game and song and/or where the song plays in game.
Please don't blame me for couple of songs which i'm still not sure in what part of the game they actually play at, but we'll figure it out eventually. Well here it is - THE FILE 11.9MB This particular medley is inspired by some pop, rock... singing melodies but you'll find the usual pieces of music as well. Some of them are more recent games. Most of the games are very well-known, with couple of them which will probably prove a little harder to guess. Ok, no more hints for now. Good luck! |
