OK, JemyM's post in General made want to revive this thread. So here we go again. Same rules as ever: I'm looking for both the game and where/when the extract is played, a game can only be featured once, and there's nothing to win.

There are only 23 tracks this time (it seems I keep getting lazier). There are many easy ones, with maybe a few harder ones (though nothing really obscure). Oh, and I sorta cheated a couple of times.

And now... THE FILE!

Great medley, nicely done! I definitely need to increase my knowledge of Adventure game soundtracks however, as I only managed to recognise a few and even then had difficulty placing them. I also lost the track numbers halfway through, so my answers are a little disorganised...

The third track may have come from Moment of Silence? During the final Satellite puzzle would be my guess. I believe there was a Fahrenheit piece in there too, which could have been from the section where Lucas has to save the drowning boy. Towards the end I seem to recognise a Monkey Island 4 theme, perhaps from the Church of LeChuck part of the game. There may have been an Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade soundtrack too, from the Venice area. That's about all I recognise. Shocking!

Correct.

Yes, it's played at various points in the game (I'll guess we are talking about the same one).

There's something from MI4, but not the church of LeChuck. And since you're not sure about the #, I'm not certain we speak about the same track.

Yup, the extract I used is actually from the movie, during the boat chase. It was slowed down and slightly re-arranged for the Venice part of the game.

I'm only sure about 8 and 12 (hope I counted right).

8. The Last Express. Right at the start in Paris, the departure of the train.

12. (13?) The Neverhood. But I couldn't tell you what part of the game.

The Myst theme in the next one (13 or 14?) is unmistakeble... I'm fairly certain it's Myst IV, but I also managed to hear Discworld Noir twice, so I'd better shut up.

I was ready to grab the ultipan if you hadn't found that one.

Correct (the style is quite distinctive).

Not Myst IV (but same composer). And Discworld Noir is there... somewhere (and only once).

I simply cannot place it... Infuriating! It's the harpsichord track nearing the end of the medley. That music could be from the law offices in Monkey Island 4 on Lucre island, however. It sounds along the right sort of lines.

That's right.

And it's too early for hints at the moment.

Just some guesses for now. The only one I knew for sure at right was the one from EFMI. Is the first one from Jack Orlando? Sounds like that kind of music. In the middle of the medley sound somethink like GK3 ending? And the last one is from Grim Fandango? Just a guess, haven't really played much of the game.

Could be. But maybe you're thinking of something completely different; "middle of the medley" is not really precise, nor is "ending".

No, I'm afraid it's not.

The GK3 tune is in 2:22 and is the closing credit. Number 9 I think. Is it correct?

A few guesses:

4. Voyage?
5. Keepsake?
16. The Longest Journey - Being chased by that mutant? (on the soundtrack it's simply called "Danger")

Gosh, I've played so many games of these games and I can't seem to place any of the music. Guess I just don't pay enough attention to it.

The only one I know for sure is #2 from Discworld Noir, from Lewton's office I think.

That's right.

OK, a few hints:
  • As usual, there's the quota of LucasArts and Myst games, as well as lots of Sierra games and French games (especially from Kheops this time).
  • If you don't recognise #1, then you've certainly never played the game.
  • You'd think Fienepien would have known #5.
  • #6 is surprisingly not from Dreamfall.
  • #9 is old; as old as can be, really.
  • I know for a fact many here have already heard #22. Twice at least. Recently.
  • #23 is about a lady in black. And a slight misunderstanding.

It vaguely reminds me of some piece in Barrow Hill. But I think it was a just similar theme.
