Default Halloween games

I love Halloween, and generally only play computer games that have a good spooky atmosphere. I was wondering if I could get some help in finding some good ones that I haven't already played yet. I'm looking for

1. Games with an "Halloweeny" or "explore a haunted house" feel to them.

2. Preferably point-and-click, although if a third person game fits the description especially well, that's fine too, and text adventures only if they set the perfect eerie mood.

3. Only PC games, and no action/shooting games

4. They don't have to be good, or even scary, they just have to have the right look and feel.

The following games fit the EXACT type I'm looking for:

Shivers 1&2
Dark Fall 1&2
Are You Afraid of the Dark: The Tale of Orpheo's Curse
John Saul's Blackstone Chronicles
Amber: Journeys Beyond
Inherent Evil: The Haunted Hotel
The 7th Guest
The 11th Hour
Midnight Nowhere
The Lurking Horror (text)

These games come somewhat close to what I'm looking for:

Phantasmagoria 1&2
I Spy: Spooky Mansion
Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Final Cut
The Forgotten
Gast: The Greatest Little Ghost
9: The Last Resort
The Residents: Bad Day on the Midway and Freak Show

These games are close enough to mention, but not really what I'm looking for:

Grim Fandango
Gabriel Knight series
Morpheus

These games don't fit the type I've described, but have an eerie feel I'm always looking for:

Sanitarium
Bad Mojo
I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
Dark Eye

I already know about but have yet to play:

Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster
Dracula Resurrection
The Black Mirror
Scratches

I really would appreciate any suggestions, as it has been ages since I've played a "Halloween" game I could really get into. Thanks.

Barrow Hill - First person and pretty creepy (to me). I loved it.

http://www.barrow-hill.co.uk/

You can get it from the website itself or from GotGame. It's not in stores as far as I know.

Quest for Glory 4 is third person and probably wouldn't fit on your list, but is still one of the first games I'd think of in terms of a Halloween atmosphere. I mean, look at those pumpkins:

Not sure if they are what you're looking for but worth checking out:

Drowned God - puzzle game like 7th Guest and 11th Hour
Black Dahlia - detective/horror hybrid (FMV)
Zork Nemesis - very eerie and creepy atmosphere
Psychic Detective - definitely horror, but not everybody likes interactive movies; I do
Gadget - no puzzles, just exploring

Quest for Glory 4 - Definately not my type of game, I think. But thank you.

Drowned God - Not exactly what I'm looking for, but weird enough for me to want to check it out, thanks.

Black Dahlia - I've known about this one for a while, but didn't realize it might be what I was looking for until I looked up the screenshots just now. Thank you.

Zork Nemesis - I've seen it played, but it didn't strike me as a "haunted house" type. More like an "investigating a dead civilization" type. But I'll look into it further. Thanks

Psychic Detective - I don't mind interactive movies, but they don't really fit what I'm looking for here. I've heard of this one though, and will definately check it out, someday. Thanks.

Gadget: Past as Future - This one definately has the right look and feel. Though I prefer not to have people other than my character inside the game with me, this one definately looks worth checking out, thank you.

I'll be playing Dracula Resurrection soon.

No, no, "haunted house" all the way.

Quivering - Way too cute for what I'm looking for right now, but looks like it may be fun, thanks.

I'll definately look into Zork Nemesis then, perhaps I misjudged it. Thank you.

Since you liked Lurking Horror, here's another horror text adventure for you - Anchorhead.

Highly recommended.

I LOVED Lurking Horror. If Anchorhead is anything like it, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Thanks.

Darkseed 1&2 - Definately weird enough, but don't have the right look for what I'm looking for right now (even though I love Geiger's work).

Veil of Darkness - Too much action for my tastes.

Necronomicon: Dawning of Darkness - Closer, but not quite the right feel.

Mummy: Tomb of the Pharaoh - Much closer, looks kind of like Shivers. Thanks.

The Legacy: Realm of Terror - This is an action RPG. Not what I'm looking for.

Hauntings of Mystery Manor - This one could be good, thanks.

Ghostly Desires - Looks almost exactly like The 7th Guest, could be goofy fun. Thank you.

Silverload - Doesn't appear to have the look or feel of what I'm looking for.

Erevos - Not specifically what I'm looking for, but looks quite interesting, thanks.

Clock Tower series - To my knowledge, these are PlayStation games. I asked for PC only. Also, there's too much running around trying not to get killed for my tastes. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, Lurking Horror was superb. God, I miss Infocom.

Zork Nemesis is NOT anything like a haunted house. The game is a stark drama about love, hate and vengeance. There is no fear of the supernatural, or things-that-go-bump-in-the-night. The blood-thirstiness and inhumanity exhibited by the characters will make your skin crawl, but I wouldn't classify it as "spooky." It's probably not what Stephenson is looking for, but it's the best adventure game I've ever played.

Thank you. People can see different things in different games, so I'll just have to check it out for myself. Especially if it's that good.

Shrug. There are ghosts all over the place.

Shrug. He liked The Blackstone Chronicles, which is the most cruel, horrifying testimony of mankind's inhumanity I've ever played, and Zork Nemesis has a few pretty unpleasant scenes too.

PS: I would never ever describe Zork Nemesis as "investigating a dead civilization".

Faust (aka Seven Games of the Soul) may be up your alley, although not really a horror as much as a spooky tale of investigating the lifes of slightly demented characters (of your list most akin to Morpheus and Residents, I think).

Theatre, while not in the same league with Lurking Horror or Anchorhead, is a good text adventure about exploring the haunted - you guessed it! - theatre. Very atmospheric, except for the silly ending.

The first Clock Tower game was for Snes .If you have a Snes or a Snes emulator on your Pc you can give it a try.You might also find Terror TRAX: Track of the Vampire interesting too.

Faust - I actually own it, and I did enjoy it, especially the music. I didn't include it because it didn't fit what I was asking for.

Theatre - Thanks, I'll check it out.

I actually have played the original SNES Clock Tower, and enjoyed it more than the PlayStation versions, despite my dislike for running and hiding games. It's a good game, but I was just asking for PC games.

Terror TRAX: Track of the Vampire - Can't find anything on this one, but I'll look into it, thanks.
