It actually would have helped if I hadn't already adapted to the awful controls a bit. I would have ran into the wall on accident then. Considering the countless locked doors around town, there wasn't really any real indication to me that I needed to go over the wall at all.

You also have to be facing the wall and actually smash into it. Being close isn't good enough as the picture below indicates.

You do get the trademark Tomb Raider "Ooof!" when you do it fast enough though...

This is indeed the problem. You have to figure out the controls all over again every screen. Every other console port I have played, at least went to the minimal effort of making the up arrow ALWAYS walk forward, like, you know, pretty much EVERY single other game that was keyboard oriented that I have ever played on my computer. I just have to laugh when I have to press the left arrow key to run towards the bottom of my screen. That makes a WHOLE lot of sense...

Whether or not I like the game, it has already won the lifetime achievement award for worst interface design of any game on any computer I have ever owned...

I had problems with the same thing
So much that i went out and swaped it for the Ps2 version i only had to play it for a few minutes and i noticedx one hell of a difference in all the aspects of the PC version .
