Best voice acting

Hard to choose but I will go with Roy Conrad as Ben. My other favorites are Tim Curry as Gabriel Knight and Tony Plana as Manny.

SamNMax 06-11-2006 01:58 PM

Mmm Robby Benson as Alexander

Gonchi 06-11-2006 02:01 PM

Rob Brydon as Lewton in Discworld Noir.

saucyminx 06-11-2006 02:05 PM

The guy who voiced Robert Cath. And the girl who voiced Tatiana, the tragic Russian princess. Both in The Last Express.

bruno321 06-11-2006 03:12 PM

The guy who did Boston Low in The Dig. He had a very profound voice. And he could sound alone, funny or dramatic. (LOL, just remembered that monologue at the edge of the... dunno what it was, where there were some lights, very funny stuff)

That was Robert Patrick. :)

crabapple 06-11-2006 03:16 PM

Manny in Grim Fandango.

Also Mephisto in Faust.

rtrooney 06-11-2006 05:34 PM

Again, Tim Curry, in Frankenstein. Best voice in the worst game ever.

Robert Cath, yes! My favorite voice was August Schmidt. But all the voices in the Last Express were topnotch. With the possible exception of Kronos. Even Kahina's small part was excellent... "you talk a great deal for a man who knows so little"... aaahhh... ;) she made it sound sooooo menacing.

Every LucasArts game had great voiceacting too.
Sherlock Holmes in the Rose Tattoo.
Little Feeble and the brilliant voice actress who did several NPGs in the game, like Feeble's mother, the girl in the telephone booth, the secretary.
Dalboz in Zork Grand Inquisitor.

Holy hell, yeah! She was awesomely voiced.

And still the best Sherlock Holmes' voice by far imho.

Jeysie 06-12-2006 09:40 AM

Thinking off the top of my head...

All of the Curse of Monkey Island acting was excellent... pretty much every voice was exactly the sort of voice I'd imagine the character having.

Maria and Dr. Morgan in Sanitarium.

Zelda and the "Main Bad Guy" in The Space Bar.

Doug Lee as Indy in Fate of Atlantis... he almost does a better Harrison Ford than Harrison Ford. Sophia's VA was good, too.

Gary Owens in Space Quest 4 & 6.

Mark Hamill as Mosely in Gabriel Knight 1.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Ariel Type 06-12-2006 11:57 AM

DoTT, Sam&Max, Curse of MI.. Yes, every single LA game is voiced professionally.
I choose Bernard, Ben, Guybrush, Murray and Glottis.
Also Woodruff had a wonderful voice, Rincewind (by Eric Idle), computer in Y2K: The Game (by Dan Castellaneta) and lamp in Zork: Grand Inqusitor. Oh, and William S. Burroughs was so great in Dark Eye!

Jelena 06-12-2006 01:46 PM

In the Swedish version of TLJ an actress called Regina Lund does the voice of April. She does an excellent job. Compared to (english version) April in Dreamfall which I presume is the same actress as in TLJ, her Swedish voice suits her much better IMO.

Hamham Chan 06-12-2006 02:15 PM

That girl who works in the coatroom at Manny Calaveras casino in Grim Fandango.Gotta love her squeeky voice.:)

I love Christopher Walken, he stars in Ripper so he´s perfect for this thread.:D
Too bad i can´t get the damn game to work on Windows XP.:frusty: :shifty:

EDIT: The girl in Grim Fandango is named Lupe, and is played by Teri Ivens

chal 06-12-2006 05:40 PM

The narrator (you know, the guy that comments everythinhg you do) in Space Quest 6.

Gonchi 06-13-2006 08:50 AM

Speaking of Narrators, John Rhys-Davis was great in Quest for Glory 4.

HeinzHarald 06-13-2006 11:59 AM

Has got to be Jack Angel, who voiced Wonkers in Dreamfall. His sad yet comforting voice will haunt me forever.

Merricat 11-06-2007 07:55 AM

Rolf Saxon, hands down. Nobody has made me laugh harder--for all the right reasons. When I played Broken Sword 4 and heard his voice, it was like reuniting with an old, dear friend after years of separation. :D

Lucifiel 11-06-2007 08:06 AM

The voice actors for Gabriel Knight were great and the narrator and cast for QFG4 were awesome.

Oh and also Chief Morssen in Culpa Innata. Gods... she sounded really intimidating and fierce.

Merricat 11-06-2007 08:20 AM

And for a cast at large, my vote goes to the folks who participated in Curse of Monkey Island. Can't think of a clinker in the lot.

AprilLives 11-06-2007 10:28 AM

So hard to pick just one … but Manny in Grim was amazing. Some other great actor/voices: George in Broken Sword, Charlie in Df and Ghen in Riven.

cwapitm 11-06-2007 10:38 AM

I agree with Tony Plana, Robbie Benson and Jack Angel. I also enjoyed Dominic Armato as Guybrush Threepwood, Rolf Saxon as George Stobbart and Sarah Hamilton as April Ryan.

Yorolepal 11-06-2007 11:16 AM

I have to give a lot of credit to Sarah Hamilton for causing me to care so much for April. I really liked Zoe's accent too in Dreamfall.

Also, I remember really liking that guy who was the voice of Beast in Beauty & The Beast....he was the voice for Prince Alexander in Kings Quest VI.

honeycomb 11-06-2007 11:17 AM

Fahrenheit, the lead character had brilliant voice acting.

DustyShinigami 11-06-2007 11:21 AM

Rolf Saxon as George Stobbart definitely, in fact the entire cast of Broken Sword 1, 2 & 3. Dominic Armato as Guybrush Threepwood including the rest of the cast for CofMI, the guy who plays Lewton in Discworld Noir, Eric Idle as Rincewind, Tim Curry in Gabriel Knight 1 (his voice acting in 3 sounded a tad over the top compared to the first), Mark Hamill as Mosely. I'd also agree that the voice acting in the LucasArts games are excellent, even though the guy who does the voice of Marcus Brody in FoA was laughable. :D

Harald B 11-06-2007 01:01 PM

David Boyll as Hugh Bliss in Bright Side of the Moon.

Trader 11-07-2007 03:00 PM

I really like James Woods he hasnt been in too many but the ones I know are
surf's up
scarface
kingdom hearts 1&2
grand theft auto
of light and darkness
hecules

He has the perfect evil voice and I loved him in kingdom hearts and of light and darkness.

Bobske 11-08-2007 04:00 AM

Couple of performances really stand out.

Tim Curry as Gabe, Dominic Armato as Guybrush, Sarah Hamilton as April Ryan and Jan Rabson as Larry Laffer.

Almost every voice over in Curse of Monkey Island is amazingly well performed. Also love the voice overs in Quest for Glory 4 and King's Quest 6. Same goes for Sanitarium and Toonstruck.

Worst voice over: Fable (the adventure game that is :) )

Max Gruber 11-08-2007 10:04 AM

Nina and Max from Secret files: Tunguska and all the characters from all Nancy Drew games.

Trexxie 11-08-2007 11:13 AM

My favorite is Manny in Grim Fandango. Love him and the game.

Squinky 11-08-2007 11:28 AM

Lewton in Discworld Noir.

Kurufinwe 11-08-2007 12:33 PM

I thought Charity James as Grace (in GK3) was really impressive, and perfectly managed to convey the subtleties of her character.

SeaTurtle 11-10-2007 07:53 AM

I agree with everyone who has said the cast of COMI. I also think that everyone from Grim Fandango did a fantastic job, especially Paula Killen who voiced Olivia.

I know! If Rolf ever quit as George, the Broken Sword series would be done for.

QFG 11-10-2007 08:18 AM

Manny in Grim Fandango
Guybrush in MI ... Murray in MI ... actually, almost all of MI
The narrator (John Rhys-Davis) in QFG4
The narrator (Gary ... something) in the Space Quest games - spectacular!!
The various voices in Dark Fall were very well done.
I'm sure there are more, but I'm blanking.

Thesaya 11-10-2007 01:26 PM

I love that the actor who play Hercule Poirot in the tv series/movies does the voice acting for him in Murder on the Orient express... Then ofcourse, MI, all tim Currys voice acting and oh, too many to think of...

mXm 11-15-2007 02:19 AM

Voice actors

Does anyone know who did the voice for Nina in Secret Files: Tunguska in the US release?

She sounds so familiar to me and I can't help but wonder where I've heard that voice before. It almost sounds like Mission Vao (Cat Taber) from KOTOR but I can't be certain.

Anyone know where to find the US voice cast? :)

Virtually yours...

Christopher Walken in Ripper, that damn fine actor in that damn fine game, is damn horrible. Overacted, he never knows how to approach the character, so he is just gesticulating a lot. One of the worse acting ever seen in videogames by a professional actor. And it's funny, because the main character, which is not he best well-known of all the cast, does a great job.

My favourite voice-acting may be in Toonstruck. The whole of it.

I agree. Man, that was some amazing stuff. Usually you get one or two that don't quite fit, or aren't the best, but CMI was perfect voice work!

Welcome to AG mXm. :)

I looked around and I can't find it. I'm not sure why it's such a secret. :P
