Question about players' deaths in Broken Sword II
I've always found a certain dark humor in the death scenes of Sierra games and have become a collector of sorts. I was recently introduced to a couple of death scenes of Nico from Broken Sword II, a series I have not yet played. As a fan of the macabre, these were some of the finest untimely ends I've seen in a game. I was curious if there were any experts here in the forum that might lend me their knowledge of the series? Aside from the two on the docks, are there any other humorously/grisly ends that befall poor Nico? And for that matter, if anybody has any good recommendations for adventure games with untimely ends for heroines? Thanks!

Haha!! I love your avatar, Daphne! I'm also a big fan of humorous death scenes in adventure games (particularly Space Quest and the Quest for Glory games). Unfortunatly I haven't played the Broken Sword games yet, so I can't really help you there. Although it's a little odd that you specifically like watching female characters die.

Broken Sword is by Revolution, not Sierra, and the deaths in Broken Sword are not of a humorous nature.

There are many ridiculous deaths in Laura Bow 1 (open a closet, falling from a balcony, get eaten by an alligator, getting stabbed in the shower, etc).

please write a more non-spoiler title. I've just started broken sword two, and haven't played it before, and I'm sure there are others on this forum who hasn't played this game..

Secrets of the Luxor has just about every demise imaginable. You can get electrocuted, crushed, stabbed, poisoned, etc. Each is unique. I think they went out of their way to cover every possibility . It's one of the few games where I actuallly wanted to die, just to see what happened.

I actually don't consider it a spoiler. "Playable characters can die" is not a spoiler - it just means you're not playing an AG with a no-death policy - but I'll adjust it anyway.

I'm sorry. I really never intended anything to be a spoiler. As you can see I'm still really new to the forum and I'm trying to find my footing.

It was mentioned already, but the Laura Bow series has some fun death sequences. The mousetrap in Dagger of Amon Ra comes immediately to mind. (Anyone know what I'm talking about there?)

The Black Mirror has a decapitation sequence. Tex Murphy can die.
Gabriel Knight can die. There's a hideous death scene in Phantasmagoria 1. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Welcome to the forums Daphne. Cathy |
