Rural Walker!!
As far as I know, there was never a game called Rural Walker (sounds exciting though, right?), but I *think* there was a Sierra FMV game called Urban Runner.
Or am I mistaking? I remember seeing advertisements and articles about the game (years ago...1990-something?), and I remember thinking that it looked pretty neat...but I have never seen any discussion or reviews for the game, which was odd because it appeared to be a pretty big-budget game for the time. Does it exist? Did it completely flop? Anyone out there play it? If so, how was it? I have a thing for FMV Oh, yeah - I'm new here. Hi! -Mike |

After a little research, I found it was developed by Coktel Vision (a division of Sierra). I have never heard of it until now, but it does look really advanced for the time. It is weird, though. An adventure published by Sierra that's little-known?

Hi Mike! Glad to see you were finally able to post.
Urban Runner is a Sierra game, yes. I know very little about it. I have alternately heard that it's brilliant and that it sucks. MobyGames has some info about it, and screenshots. I'd love to get my hands on this game... I'm such an FMV sucker. |

Thanks for the information fov!
It's interesting that a Sierra adventure game that was compared/contrasted to both Tex Murphey and GK2 has had so little discussion/coverage throughout the adventure gaming community (as far as I know). Yes, it does sound like it may be a poor quality FMV game...but still, I know that there are *many* willing to play poor quality FMV games (myself included) - especially ones that were designed around the same time as Phantasmagoria and GK2. I guess the game just never got much attention, positive or negative. *shrug* |

I've played it. It's an overacted mess of FMV seaquences as you try amd flee from a crazed killer in an industrial complex.
And welcome Mikeynuts! May Murray bite you last! edit: Urban Runner that is.

Only seen it at a friends, and it feeled worse than Phantasmagoria. If you liked the later, then give it a try...
Rural Walker! Brilliant.

Rural Walker:
Meander about tens of mediocre locations! Interact with a colorful cast of cornstalks! Match wits with Rusty, an old lazy golden retriever! Walk past a fence! Ahem…anyways, I DID like the Phantasmagoria games, despite their flaws. So perhaps I will try to get Urban Runner off of E-Bay or something. However, it will have to wait a couple months, as I have just blown $70 on the Limited Edition of Dreamfall. Yeah, it was a bit pricey, but it was well worth it – my favorite part of the game so far is the mystery of when it will show up! Every day is full of suspense – will I receive it, or will I be left in bitter disappointment?? – how exciting!! Blah, Mike |
