Duh. I can't read the review now; I'll check it tonight. 3/10 seems really harsh from what I've seen of the demo, though.

It's a very short review, hardly a review at all. And no mention of the (French?) voiceacting.

I agree that 3/10 is harsh. Even more so if they gave MoS the same rating.

If it's not too long, could someone Copy/Paste it as a regular post? I can't access gamekult right now...

I'd rather an article not be copied in its entirety, as that's not fair to the original site.

Personally, I thought "Added thereto a too discreet mood, one will have sometimes evil to not to prick nose" is perhaps overstating... or perhaps I need a better translator.

But, uh, yeah. From what I can gather, the review doesn't really do much to justify its score. I certainly agree it's technically unpolished, but not excessively so. I hope they add the "overused gameplay" criticism to 90% of the reviews they write.

I read it, and yes, even though the review seems fair from a general gamer point of view, the score seems a little too low.

They're mostly complaining about the lack of interactivity (like the impossibility to speak to Zak at will, which is indeed annoying, going by the demo).
Also, they say that the graphics are not good, which isn't exactly true. A bit outdated, perhaps, but still they have their charm.

When has speaking to NPC's at will ever been an option in adventures?

It doesn't have to actually be at will, as long as you feel like you can talk at will.... (?)

If only they actually mentioned what the gameplay in question is...

You mean having dialogue options when the developers feel the time has come to ask someone a couple of questions? I have no problems with that at all, love the ones where options B and C become unavailable once you've chosen A, but it definitely doesn't feel like *freedom*. I guess the only time I felt I could talk to NPC's at will was in some of the better text adventures.

Not freedom per se, but more of percieved freedom... In Fahrenheit for example (an actually very linear game), I did have the illusion I could do almost anything.

And yes, text adventures really excelled at percieved freedom... So, I guess we agree. More or less...

Er... thinking about my favorite AGs, always. Talk To X -> conversation.

I probably didn't really get what you were saying.

In any case, compare Zack with Sophia, or Joey, or Max. You can talk to all of them, but you can't talk to Zack. It annoyed me.

EDIT: Oh, ok I get it. I misused "at will", I guess. What I meant was that you can't talk to Zack when you want to, only when some event occurs and he starts talking.
