Quite good production for such a small team. Seemed like beta/tech demo quality but still enjoyable. I liked the desolate locations and non essential interactions with the environment, like eating pastry There is an alternative ending too.
From http://shadowtorstudios.co.uk/ "The company plan to utilise the inspirational Cornish landscape to craft a series of exciting, and detailed, computer games beginning with the archaeological thriller, Barrow Hill." I hope they get more money for the next game to be able to create more detailed locations and models. Well, I just want more of the same but with more polished look and feel and higher than 800x600 resolution. |

I've just started this one (have made it to the kitchen). It is so atmospheric, I want to play it in the optimal conditions - dark room, head phones on. Trouble is that I'm in a bright sunny room, with no overcast days in the forecast, so the game is on hold until more suitable weather arrives.

I'm loving Barrow Hill. One of the most enjoyable adventure games I've played in a long time and I usually prefer third-person games. I'm so glad I decided to make the purchase.
Just make sure you play the game with the sound turned way up and in total darkness. http://www.barrow-hill.co.uk/ Last edited by Legolas813; 06-21-2006 at 07:14 AM. |

I'm impressed with Barrow Hill so far but I'm only a few mins into it. I just wanted to install it and watch the into to make sure it worked before I put it on hold until I finish Paradise. ...bysmitty

1) I never played Scratches, only the demo.
2) I'm not totally against first-person. I just prefer third-person. |

I keep mis-reading the name as "Benny Hill."

Hmmm......here's a good review on this one:
8.1 from IGN, which seems like a very good score to me from them.... |

Short review, but the reviewer did a good job of outlining the good and the bad ... definitely will order a copy of this soon.
Point to note... the reviewer, Staci Krause, seems to be an adventure gamer and a fair chunk of her reviews for IGN are adventure reviews, which explains why this game got a fair review from her. This is the right way to approach reviews on sites that cover many game genres. And now is a good time to not bring up that other site.

IGN Barrow Hill review
http://pc.ign.com/articles/728/728737p1.html
Usually, IGN and gamespot are pretty similar with their reviews, clearly not the case here I dont want to ignite the whole "gamespot hates adventures" deal again. But its pretty funny that IGN who are exactly the same kind of site would give this game a really good review, and gamespot was unable to see any merit in it whatsoever. |

Anyone ever read worthplaying.com reviews? They seem to be quite generous. I've never read any of their reviews before I must admit. I was actualy looking for more safecracker reviews and they gave safecracker 7.5 but also barrow hill a whopping 9.1 ! They even made barrow hill 'editors choice'.
Check them out. http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=36591 http://www.worthplaying.com/article....thread&order=0 |

I suck at math puzzles, didn't like Schizm one little bit and didn't want to finish it. But a score of 3.0 is unjustified. IMO, IMO. And reviewer Staci even found the terrible voiceacting passable...
