Favorite Piece of Music in an Adventure
A SamNMax Request™
I thought the music in the Syberias was beautiful but my gaming experience is not the most extensive. I also love the music in Grim Fandango. Last edited by Melanie68; 01-04-2006 at 09:00 PM. |

What a great topic.
My definite all time favourite musical piece is from Conquests of Camelot. The very first song that plays when the title screen opens with the beautiful image of the sword. And the song that follows is also brilliant. Close second would be the intro pieces from Monkey Island and Space Quest 3! WOOOO! |

Wow, Eriq is a man after my heart! Good to see somebody else who adores the Conquests of Camelot music! I still hum some of those tunes to this day, and it's been years since I played it.
Coincidentally, the intro themes from Monkey Island & Space Quest 3 have been very dear to me as well. Of course Loom tops all of this, Loom sweet Loom.

The intro theme to QfG4, Curse of Monkey Island's main theme and pretty much all of Discworld Noir's soundtrack rank fairly high on my list, but if I had to pick a single piece of music, then I would go with Liberi Fatali from FF8.

Syberia indeed had some great music, very evocative, very moving. Grim Fandango is a favorite as well -- I burnt a copy of that and still listen to it regularly. Curse of Monkey Island is good, been meaning to burn a copy of that. And the Neverhood soundtrack is jazzy, bouncy, wacky good fun also.

Curse of Monkey Island is what I'll always go for. I don't have any specific songs from there; they all do a good job of creating a Caribbean and pirate feel.
But I don't know if I'd like the music as much without the context. I was recently listening to the songs while out shopping, and I really paid attention to how they were made. Something told me that I wouldn't like the songs as much if I didn't associate them with the Monkey Island world. |

One of my favourites has to be the theme from Leisure Suit Larry, just because it's so catchy.
Once you hear it it's stuck in your head, and you're whistling it for days after.

I find it difficult to think of an individual piece. The Ghosts theme from The Dig maybe. The hero's march or whatever from the Quest for Glory games is a sentimental favourite as well.

I'd have to say Quest for Glory V-Overture. It stuck with me so much that back when I had it installed, I'd load up the game and click on the credits just to hear the song in its entirety. I've even tried tracking down the QFG5 soundtrack just to get it to no avail...

One of the best is the soundtracks of Grim Fandango and Longest Journey. Both Perfect.
Also, the music of the intro scene of Halo is magnificent. And who can forget the marvelous music of the Gabriel Knight games, especially that intro of the third.
