Dumb guy asks stupid question (PAL vs NTSC)
Hey all - a really (possibly really, really) dumb question.
If I were to buy a CD-ROM PC Game from the United Kingdom, will it play in my American PC? There's no region coding or PAL-NTSC issue, is there? Reason being is I'm looking on behalf of both myself and for my wife (thanks, Grim Fandango!) to pick up Broken Sword (Circle of Blood), the original. Plenty of copies can be found online from the UK but only a few from the US. |

Yeah I too am about to order Circle of Blood from the UK. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. I don't think PC games have that regional coding on them.
Not a dumb question. I've often thought that myself. |

Nope no reigon coding on PC games, the only time you ever need to take that into account is with MMO's as the keycode tells you what servers youll be playing on
But thats not a problem in this case

PAL/NTSC is only an issue with videoo signals to TVs and the like. VGA is all good

Broken Sword from the UK work'd on my computer too... then again, it's not surprising since I'm from the UK.

Yeah, that's why I asked. But I figured PC games were probably different. However, I wanted to make sure before I sunk some cash into a shipment from the UK. |

As said before, PC games should be fine. One thing to bear in mind though, Broken Sword 1 was called Shadow of the Templars in the UK, not Circle of Blood (I still don't understand why so many games have different names in the UK/US).
