Crap, I knew forgot to ask a question, and it was that! tabs did the voicework? Wow, tabs, you were BORN to do voicework in games. Ever consider that as alternate career?

It's supposed to be for MSDos. There was a patch to make it playable on Win95. My CD even has a program on it that is supposed to fix the problem with having no or incorrect sound. However, that's also only for Win95. Quote:

Then: Spoiler: Tabacco, your narration was perfect. Just the right hint of sarcasm and seriousness. You have a very nice voice for this sort of thing; ever considered a broadcasting career?

Hey, where's the walkthrough? Yes, I'm stuck! sigh...
I got the star on the tree - yippee! And I love the comments - things like trying the game with the stairs and you get "Did you think it was a slinky?" In fact, the comments are the best part, as far as I've gotten. Now - Spoiler: Lynsie

For those who might not have realized that the lights came on... it's not just you. Sometimes they don't change visibly even though you've turned them on. It's a problem we didn't have time to fix, and has to do with what order you do things in. You can tell if the power's on by trying to use the computer or by looking at the tree.

Fun fact: The computer was supposed to light up, too, but the way I understand it, we actually hit an AGS ceiling of maximum allowable events. That's right... too much interaction density! Woo hoo!! That may not explain why the tree lights don't work if left to the end, but that one's proving a mystery, so it's my guess and I'm sticking with it.

If anyone wants it, I wrote up a very straight-forward step-by-step totally spoilery walkthrough. In other words, don't read unless you're desperate.
Spoiler: I *think* that's the order that will give you every fun effect, but of course only the Staffers know for sure. Incidentally, every time I read Step 9 I want to giggle. There's just something delightfully ludicrous about it. Peace & Luv, Liz

Steps 4 and 5 need to be reversed. Other than that, it's pretty much right. Using everything on everything should yield results, though, so be sure to take time and play around with what you can do. (You can also fix the tree before turning on the lights, if you want... just might not get the "lit up" graphic when you do.)

Steps 4 and 5 are fine. I think Emily missed step 3. Writers! What do THEY know?
Unfortunately, there's a bug no matter which major task you do first. If you do the tree first, then the lights won't turn on with the power. If you do the power first, then you don't get the ongoing comments on the brown present. So to see everything as intended, you have to play twice. And yes, pan everything, use any WRONG inventory item on everything, and do it all over again once you've changed something. (i.e. card on FLOOR is not the same as card on mantle). Oh, and don't forget to close the window. It's cold out. |

What a very sweet game. I had a few flashbacks from time to time. Day of the Tentacle comes to mind. I loved all the quips and quotes of other games.
Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedules to entertain us for Christmas. I never had a glitch or bug. Very entertaining. Happy Holidays everyone. Cathy |
