Best: Monkey Island 2
Good: Grim Fandango, The Dig, Longest Journey
Annoying: Still Life, Simon the Sorceror 2, Syberia (All are annoying in a good way)
Bad: Syberia 2, Exile, Revelation
Worst: Myst

How can you like MI2s ending but think SS2s ending is annoying?
they are pretty similar, although the MI" one is better SS2 isnt far behind

Both of those never happened.
I suppose not, but you don't know that George didn't get the girl until BS2. As for GF, Manny already had the girl.

In GF they never really answered that question. They left it up to your imagination. Throughout the game I never was of the opinion that he "had the girl".

Not even after the kiss?

Best: The Last Express.
Spoiler:
For me, that succession of shots progressively further away from Cath, then the map of Europe reassembling itself encapsulates the emotional core of the whole game.
LeChuck's Revenge deserves a mention as well, but it's already had about 500.

Worst: This one's hard for me. I'm sure there's some absolutely irredeemable ending I'm forgetting (I'd say Fahrenheit, except that it's more like the entire second half than the ending, which actually picks up slightly), but Discworld Noir. The film-noir references which had been cleverly utilised and served to add texture up to that point seemed to break loose and throttle the game.
Spoiler:
It didn't so much reference Casablanca as become Casablanca.

Anyone who's finished Myst can't possibly claim any other game has a worse ending !?

I admit, I haven't played Myst. But I can hardly imagine it being worse than the ending of Black Mirror. I mean, I played towards - ah, well, obviously, here are spoilers following, but...:
Spoiler:

NOTHING. NO THING. I got nothing for some really frustrating puzzles (Zodiac, anyone?). They built up an interesting plot, made the characters as mysterious as possible, and... just let the game end. After the horrible dungeon at the end, I get a horrible... ending? I think one can hardly call it that way.

Well, it's nice. At least, they kept their tradition (or continued it) with NiBiRu. Just as awful.

I completely forgot about TBM. Yes it has to be one of the worst and most disappointing endings I have ever seen. It's a shame because it was building up nicely to big climax then Nothing!

It seems adv. developers are completely incapable of putting half-decent endings these days!

This thread (needless to say, full of spoilers!) has some great reading for you, Black Mirror ending haters. Personally, I agree much of the story - not just in the end - could've been told better, but climactic it was, a lot.

Spoiler:
Okay, so I had been half-expecting some spectacular animation of closing the curse, and was a bit disappointed in that regard, but the following scene of Samuel's suicide was very emotional and made up for it.

OK, here are spoilers about the Myst ending:
Spoiler:
There is no ending, you're left to wander the different ages back and forth until the events of Riven takes place. So, Myst has no ending, just a "thank you, please wander around a bit until I call for you".

I didn't read the BM spoiler, since I'm currently playing it. Still, I finding it hard to believe it can be worse...

Good:
The Neverhood Chronicles... Just finished it, and although it's a bog-stanadard game, the ending is cool
The Longest Journey... nicely keeps it open for Dreamfall

Bad:
Monkey Island 2... But probably because I'd played MI3 and MI4 before MI2
Monkey Island 3... What ending? There's a 10 second cutscene and then the credits roll
Beyond Good and Evil... total rubbish.

I'd defend that by suggesting that the game actually "ends" throughout the entire last section in which you're playing. Major questions aren't left unanswered, and the plot is ended. If one looks at it as you playing the end of the story I didn't think it was a particularly bad ending.

Ok I just finished Ni.Bi.Ru.

Future Games take note.

You make excellent games, but your endings suck.

Black Mirror was worse, but Ni.Bi.Ru wasn't much better.

I still think Black Mirror's ending was an excellent conclusion to the plot. Everything else simply would not have worked.
