Tex Murphy Interface
Wow, this is going to take some time getting used to. It's putting me off a little. I've never played an adventure that featured a window that takes up a quarter of the screen and a control panel filling up all the rest. The walking feature is the most annoying. I'm tempted to give it up. It's just so weird. Anyone else feel this way?

You can toggle between full screen and the small window. I played all of the games with full window.

I loved these games at the various Tex Murphy threads are making me want to dig them out and replay.
SnM, play in a big window and give them a chance - they're worth it |

I remember having a really hard time getting used to the interface. I played about half of Overseer but never really got into it.
The thing that really threw me off was that inventory items disappear when the game decides you don't need them anymore. You might pick up a note and read it once and then it's gone. I thought it was a bug. Which one are you playing? I have Pandora Directive and Under a Killing Moon as well as Overseer, just never bit the bullet and installed them... |

PS: Oh wait... you mean stuff disappearing the next day/act, like in King's Quest VII. |

Though I have noticed that most of the games that are regarded as popular and classic you seemed to not like very much....hmmm...are you really even an adventure game fan? Or are you just an FPS lover who moderates here? |

Seriously, you are of course correct. Thats what allows the genre to grow and innovative games to be created and released. We all like different things. And I can see where people would have issues with some of the Tex Murphy games. But I still think you might be a closet FPS lover..... |

Like the game Druuna? That was the last game I bought without reading reviews of the game. I only played about 20 minutes of that game! |

That's a very valid point. I forgot but its true, I wasn't able to run the game at 100% either. But I was able to run it, and thats all that mattered. Funny how in those days if I could run a game I'd be ok with stuttering graphics and audio, but today, if a game does not run 100% smooth and perfect I get upset. Guess as I got older and my machines got better I was no longer willing to accept anything but perfection.
Still, I went back and played one of the Tex Murphy games recently and its still as much fun as it was. Though the interface is not the best and it still wasn't 100% performance wise. The games are true classics At least IMHO. |

hi everybody!
i`ve just finished UAKM, and although there are some annoying stuff such as objects that are hard to find and a brief ending, the writing makes it a great game! i played the two previous adventures in the series, and never thought that UAKM will be that good... chris jones is charming as tex and, and the dialogs were so funny sometimes that it made me lough (in a good way, of course)... i`m looking forward to play "the pandora directive" and "overseer", and was thrilled to discover that there is a chance for.. another tex murphy game! http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/m...hp?f=13&t=2275 according to the unofficial tex murphy site (link above..), aaron conners says that there may be a chance for big news concerning a new tex game... |

If they do make a new tex game , it won't be the same anymore. It won't be like 3, 4 & 5 with FMV , they won't have the budget to do those so it might probably be 3d modelling of Tex or even back to oldschool 2d.

Overseer is definitely the weakest of the trilogy. Pandora Directive is the best, and miles above UAKM and Overseer in terms of plot/humour. I would try giving that one a shot. The interface in UAKM and PD is also a little less complicated than the Overseer one, so that may help too.
