I seem to be the only person in the world that actually supports Vivendi over part of their argument against Valve.

But, hey, EA handles Valve's games now.

Can see where you're coming from with that one. If a game is just sitting on someone's shelf gathering dust (because there are too many new games for them to replay it) it does seem a tremendous waste. That poor little game is not fulfilling its purpose in life any more.

But time does take its toll on old games as well. Corrupted disks. Scratched CDs. Lost copy protection wheels. Sometimes hard-to-find is just down to how many copies have physically survived.

If there are any particular games you had in mind with this post though, drop me a PM and I'll keep an eye out for you.

Any publisher that releases inferior adventure games, should be sent on their journey the center of the earth*).
A game should either be a quality title, or not be published at all.

Technically I didn't buy it cheap.
I got it for my birthday... and then got it again in the LucasArts Entertainment Pack boxset.

Two sealed Celticas... eh...
Two SEALED Celticas...?
I mean, TWO...? Sealed? BOTH of them? Why TWO?
I'm absolutely flabbergasted.

Seals and shrinkwrap are highly overrated. Yessir.
Imo, imo, imo.

So, on that note I think we can hate Ken Williams for selling Sierra, for what that did to adventure games...

After reading S&M poll the first thought on voting was "LA, of course!". So I did.. Than I remembered that Vivendi was the one that ruined Sierra, and *snob* poor Coktel. Ah, even the death of S&M2 can't compare to the deaths of those legends..

LucasArts. I was never a Sierra person.

How can you argue with Fate of Atlantis, the Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, The Dig, and Full Throttle? And the bastards destroyed it! DESTROYED IT ALL WITH STAR WARS BULLSHIT.

Will Crowther. If he hadn't made that stupid Colossal Cave game years ago, S&M2 cancellation, KQIX getting shut down, Infocom's, Cocktel's, Legend's and other companies' demise, an epidemy of Myst clones, the general downfall of the adventure genre - none of those awful things would ever happen.

Damn you, Crowther, it is all your fault!

It's not even a good business plan at the end of the day. I respect the fact that they exist to make profits not give art grants, but LA are f***ing themselves slowly; you can only milk one tired brand (which wont have any new films) so long before the general public realises your little game and you destroy the two powerful brands you have; Star Wars and the Lucasarts name people remember. They aren't thinking long term; the CEO probably wants to move on or retire so doesn't care about long term growth, only short term profit strategies.

The CEO who was appointed fairly recently? I doubt it.

The cynic in me says that, whatever Mr Lucas may say, someone will end up making another Star Wars film. And I'm not kidding about this...
