Dreamfall too hot to handle
http://jake.idlethumbs.net/dreamfall.jpg
Saw that on the AG front page, linking to the dreamfall gallery and had to link it... I'm sure the existence of that shot is known to everyone on earth but me but, oh man, thats so great looking. Can't wait. |
Haven't seen this one. Beautiful! Reminds me a bit of that town at the beginning of Morrowind. Man, I was just standing there for about an hour admiring the scenery as day slowly turned into night. Where's the lighthouse? :D

Yeah, that's one of the hot new pics from www.dreamfall.com
It looks absolutely gorgeous. :9~ |
Is that real time 3d or pre-rendered? If it's pre-rendered then it's pretty standard, IMO.
|
It's so cool because it's a neat harbor shot, it's a beautiful city (it's Arcadia I'm assuming) and it just makes me want to visit!
EDIT: I was looking through the gallery. What does Ragnar have with showing the women in their underwear? |
There´s no way this game will work on my computer. :frown:
Time to update my hardware. :frusty: |

It is, I have even heard friends who care nothing for adventure games comment on how good Dreamfall looks.
|
Im not sure I'll like the action in the game but I certainly am excited.

The water and the modelling isn't that impressive. The skymap is a damn work of art just on its own, and the design of the architecture is great, but it's always been great, even in the first game.

That is quite sexy.

It's nice to get an adventure game with graphics that rival the industry's high performers. :P

I think it is one of those screenshots that were not received with enthusiasm when posted few days ago as Ragnar wrote in his blog. May be this one is new, I am not sure.
From http://www.ragnartornquist.com/ September 8th, 2005 "I finally got around to reading some of the comments you guys have been leaving recently, and I noticed that a couple of you didn’t like the latest screenshots on the official Dreamfall site. Here’s the thing: I sort of agree. They don’t look that great. I haven’t been totally satisfied with some the screens we’ve published lately, simply because they represent a transitional phase in the development of the game. We’ve been upgrading the PC version from DirectX 8.0 - which is what the Xbox is using - to DirectX 9.0. We’ve also rewritten all the shaders in the process, and that’s made a world of difference. We’ve got new shadows, new reflections, cube mapping, and a bunch of other graphical features. You name it, it’s in there. Meanwhile, the Xbox version is benefitting from tons of changes, including detail maps - which is exactly what it sounds like: more detail in the texture mapping. Now, the closer you get to a texture, the more detailed it looks. Pretty cool stuff. We’re also in the process of replacing a number of the character models created early on with new and improved ones, and we’re tweaking most of the others to make them look better. Eighteen months on, we’ve learned a lot, and the technology has improved, meaning we can do a lot more now than we could back then. I’ll try and get some new and improved screens out there as soon as possible, though when a game is going through changes as radical as these - which happens a lot in game development - it takes a bit of time to get everything sorted. Right now there are still a few visual bugs to sort out, but as soon as that’s taken care of, we’ll definitely be showing off the goods. Rest assured that Dreamfall is looking fantastic. I play it every day, and I’m still blown away by some of the locations and characters. But you won’t have to take my word for it forever, and if you’re not convinced yet, you will be soon." |
Um, I don't want to excite you unnecessarily, but did anyone else notice this?
