Yes, it was a very annoying ending. Nobody should be that stupid. I wanted to talk some sense into the guy.

I strongly disagree. You have no idea how much I enjoyed that ending. It meant that that game, the worst thing I've played in about a decade, was finally over. No more of its shallow plot, boring conversations and awful, illogical, ridiculous puzzles. Great moment! And believe me, it was even better the second time around. (Yes, I did replay Runaway about a year later, hoping I would change my mind about it. I didn't. At all. Really.) The only bad thing about the ending was the fact that Brian and the bimbo-in-distress (whatever her name was) survived, leaving room for a sequel. But since I know they won't get me this time, it didn't really spoil the enjoyment.
Thanks for reminding me of this moment of pure bliss.

Now, as to really bad endings, I think BS3 gets my vote. The game kept getting worse as it progressed, and the ending was, logically enough, appallingly bad.

Having just played Fahrenheit (which is absolutely amazing, better than any of the positive reviews say, soooooo much fun (if too short)) I want to take the opportunity to say how ridiculous some parts of the ending are, particularly;

Spoiler (Look away now, can someone tell me how to make the background white so I can hide stuff properly?);

The fact that Agatha's ghost is an AI. The romance between Kane and Carla. The "everything is ok, look, nice garden!" final scene despite Kane being living dead.

Almost ruined a grade A game.

Oh yeah, and the ending to BS3 was pure crap apart from <SPOILER!!>

The bit post credits where we see the hand emerge from the lake

I mean, the last puzzle in the game was a fricking crate puzzle! Quick, lets stop the bad guy! But wait, we can't get onto this hill without - pushing some boxes around!

All bluster, precious little sense.

Ron Gilbert has said the same thing, Elayne would have never married Guybrush.
She was acting out of character.

Peasant´s Quest also had a bad ending.
Spoiler:
You get killed by the dragon! But that kinda fits in with the games weird humour.

I rather disliked the ending of Broken Sword 2. I mean, in the first game completed it by thinking quickly, but in the second you just had to turn up!

Still Life has no serious contenders for the crown of worst adventure game ending...
