Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Wednesday

Oh, beautiful Sophia! :) |
Hmm, I don't recall seeing that scene in FoA... Have I missed something or is that from the unofficial fan-made sequel, which was cancelled due to copyright issues?

Also, that's a strangely dull screen to select, as opposed to many other beautiful FoA screens. |
Maybe we should retitle these threads to "Adventure Game of the Day". Because, let's face it, scenes that nobody remembers (and, like some others, I'm not sure that this screen ever actually appears ingame) aren't really the focus of the discussions we're having.
Still, Fate of Atlantis is the high point of Indy gaming if you ask me. |

Didn' know there were rules as to what picture from what game got posted. It's "Adventure Game Scene of the Day" not "Wild, Cool, most interesting amazing adventure game scene from only the coolest ag's"
heh I never played the fan sequal (finished or unfinished), and that screen seems very familiar since there are a couple different ways to enter Atlantis. *shrug. To me some of my favorite parts of that game were just walking around and around the halls of Atlantis. that screen gave me the feeling so I picked it. |

I find this one a bit bland, but hey, different people, different strokes. ;) |

Actually, I think it's a pretty intersting scene. Let's face it. Even though most screens in FoA were very beautiful, most of them weren't particularly interesting. Sure, for an adventure gamer they would be interesting because you knew you could *do* something there, but if you were to hang any scene (even the nice one of the Minoan ruins) in a Museum or gallery, they wouldn't really be the hit. People would look at it, think something along the lines of "Yeah, it's nice. Beautiful.", but then wander on. If you are drawing a picture, you not only want to attract the attention of the audience, you also want to hold it. Your picture can be beautiful, but that doesn't make it interesting. http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/564...91607131if.jpg This one is quite good actually. Maybe a bit turbulent, though. http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/615...91610167ee.jpg Nice, interesting scene with some contrast. Still a bit too centered, though. http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8264/fate148zc.jpg Nice and classic scene. Has a foreground, middle and some background. The dark green hills add contrast. But at the same time, they push themselves into the front. Their colour should be dimmed a bit, though not too so much as to blend them with the background. From Mixnmojo.com and I think some other site Compared with the one posted by Wreck: Quote:
Now, which one would keep you looking longer? Wreck's picture has an intersting use of perspective, non-center focus point, and already pretty good contrast (although it still could be improved on). I'd say the are on the left, beside the pillar is a bit weak, as is the space between the closest and the next pillar (it looks as if something is missing. It's a bit distracting). But it has the potential to be a success. It is interesting for a viewer that isn't accustomed to the story and the importance the screen holds in the game. Maybe Pinksie can add something more about the principles of picture composition. - :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
Oh my lord I wasn't expecting all that about a picture I posted lol
Here... I've been working on an adventure game (not being named here right now), and a lot of coding is really coming along successfuly. I'll only post a few screens below: Below are screens: http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a004.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a001.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a002.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a003.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a006.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a005.jpg http://www.josephgoss.com/game/a011.jpg |
Looking nice, Wreck :).

Wow, your game looks amazing!

Wreck
Very nice pics. In the 4th one down is that an Eagle from Space 1999 http://www.tv-timewarp.co.uk/space_1999/EagleII.jpg |
Hmmm... I think there was a playable demo of this game that contained material that wasn't included in the final game. Maybe the screenshot is from there?
|
Beautiful pictures, Wreck! :)
Did you draw those? |
Those are a few screens from the game so far yes. The project hasn't really been talked about yet so not much info to give out. Yes, they're all custom designs strictly for the game. I do them in 3D Studio Max with after effects in PSP and Adobe. And yes, I love the Eagle hehe I drew it from a few angles and then modelled the pieces I felt would be good in the scene. It's always a nice piece to see.
