Default *Sigh* Come on Gamespot...

Gamespot always seems to disappoint me when it comes to their reviews. They did it again . Now I know for a fact that the Neverhood is one of the highest rated and most loved games period. I for one haven't played it, but I can easily argue this game is not worth a 5-something out of ten. Broken Sword II isn't even a 5 experience. I'm disappointed.

"Most loved?" I don't know about that.

I've never played it personally, so I can't really judge its quality. But I usually find that Gamespot's scores are, in general, quite fair.

Most loved as in most of everyone who has played it loves it.

Well, I've never seen Neverhood mentioned on anybody's list of favorite adventure games. In fact, I've rarely seen Neverhood mentioned period.

Considering one this site's very own reviewers expressed how much he enjoyed Neverhood to what seemed like the extreme, I thought would have given it away. Also, check out amazon.com and gamfaqs for some gamer reviews.

I heard that it was an incredibly frustrating game. In fact, I think the official review on this website says that.

I don't rate it that highly, and I have played it.

Neverhood received bad reviews from pretty much every critic upon its release.

Well I'm not a big fan of GameSpot myself. They completely left out Sam and Max in their recent feature on game cancellations they were disappointed with. Totally ridiculous.

I never really considered gamespot an adventure loving site. They kind of focus on whats hot and thats rpg and shooter games.

Wait, is this thread discussing a review that's about a decade old? Maybe it's just me, but I think we might have missed the window for making complaints.

Broken Sword II is definitely not a decade old! And I think the complaints here are mainly targetted at Gamespot, which I really hated anyway!

Gamespot are incredibly fair towards adventure games, especially recently. They gave Myst IV a more overwhelming positively review than I ever could, and are always balanced in their judgement of such games. Neverhood was never a critically accepted game either in anything other than presentation.

Funny how this conversation about impartiality in mainstream sites always pops up and gets disproved.

Gamespot, as with most 'professional' gaming sites, gets paid for every positive review by producers and distributors. I guess it's that obvious, how many times did they give a low score to a highly awaited game? Twice maybe?

Prove they get paid. You'll find you can't.

So now you accuse them of taking bribes.

Have you any proof of this?

If Juji was posting here, I can imagine what he'd say.

I have.

Could this be because it was not made by Sierra or LucasArts, perhaps?
