I'm at the stage where the princess is

in the steam bath

, and I'm supposed to walk up the stairs to

Spoiler:
hide in the basket outside her room

I click to walk up the stairs, and as soon as Ann reaches the top where I see the landing/balcony, the scene changes, and she's back at the bottom of the stairs. I cannot proceed. The game is not locked up. I can go other places, but I just cannot go up the stairs.

Is there something I haven't done, or is this a technical glitch? If the latter, is there a fix?

Running Win7(64) on an HP i7 Elite w/24G RAM.
