I think it depends on how bothered you are about missing out on backstory. You can pick up everything you strictly need to know from the second 2 games but if you want to have the full depth of them I would play the first one first.

Also the ending of the first game will be spoilt to some extent at least by playing the other two first if you ever want to go back to it. This isn't exactly the end of the world in that it won't completely ruin the first game but if you want the full experience it's better to play them in order. In my opinion anyway!
