Hmm... Good point. That's actually been the case for me with some movies, such as Let the Right One In. On the other hand, I seem to have no trouble appreciating Peter Jackson's 'Rings' trilogy even though there's a lot changed/missing compared to the books. His movie versions are just as awesome in their own right, in my opinion.
