However, refusal to acknowledge other ancestry, whether Saxon or even Celtic is a mark of the true Englishman I would say!
Another point of note is that when you hear well spoken and well off British people speaking about "Britain", what they actually mean is "England", and by England they actually mean London and the Home Counties, and by London and the Home Counties, they actually mean the posher parts of West London and the surrounding counties.
Living on the east side of London rules me firmly out of being Posh, well spoken or well off! Although for the reassurance of any Americans, I can confirm this means I speak like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, regularly see the Queen and know all of your relatives from Lands End to John O'Groats!
