Watch for yourself. Top 10 Assassin's Creed II kills. Not for the squeamish, animated violence.
Ac2 has very fluid combat animations, not just in the above displayed killing strokes. There's variety, and yet they all fit and flow well together.
Two World's II seemed very clumsy afterwards. Divinity 2 is another example of truly clumsy melee combat, and it uses a modified Gamebyro engine.
