Monkey Island 2 - Special Edition is the best adventure game I've played this year, followed very closely by Amnesia: The Dark Decent.
Unfortunately I haven't played Heavy Rain (no PS3) so I can't comment, nor have I finished Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse.
