I usually don't play neither remakes nor fan sequels, but I would recommend the recent point & click remake to The Htichhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

It's special in the sense that the original was a (very abstract) text game, so the creator of the remake had to interpret everything, come up with a fitting soundtrack and visual style etc. Also, to deal with puzzles so that they would work with a very different interface.
