How about opening
this thread? It's a sticky and already lists some great threads about recommendations but most of those are too old. I assume some users will still create new threads but if at least the regular posters, lurkers and people that use the "search" function start focusing on a single thread for recommendation it can make the forums more organized and avoid bumping down a lot of threads to oblivion.
