if u have steam, try downloading the demo from there
otherwise try
www.gamershell.com if u haven't already. generally i've not had a problem with them. i'm surprised that even the official site didn't work for you. maybe a problem with your comp? maybe the download didn't totally finish? try fileplanet.com as well maybe. just some suggestions.
