Just think of it this way. PS3 is the cheapest bluray player. Even if you don't want a PS3, it's still worth getting since the player is the default HD technology and it has more than you need. Plus its cheaper compared to other Bluray players.
If you love movies and have or might get an HD/LCD/Laser TV, then you are set for the future. Plus, you get Heavy Rain.
Great news so far. I don't have a PS3 yet, but its worth getting for the fact its the cheapest Bluray player with online firmware updating.
