Oh, Mr. Nash. I dearly love reading children's fiction and I write it, as well, so you'll get no argument from me regarding the quality--some of it is dreadful, of course, but that's true of writing in any genre.
For my birthday a couple of years ago, my Will hunted up a copy of Ellen Kindt McKenzie's "Taash and the Jesters," which is a story that I loved in childhood. It's one of the best gifts anyone has ever given me.
