I was busy playing "Jade Empire". It was awesome! Even though I saw one of the minor plot twists coming from a mile away.

According to Scholar Dowong, the movement of the birds flying to the south causes the winds to reverse, and thus causes winter. And when they return, they change the direction of the wind again, bringing back summer. So yeah, the movement of large groups of birds causes the weather.
Also, humans cause clouds.
