I remember that as a kid I was scared senseless at the Dwarfs in Kings Quest VI, I was terrible at that game at that age and I was always afraid I was going to die, and I 'd make it through to the second to last, or the last one and then get booted into the ocean.

Also, the entire act of Sanitarium in Max's house.

edit: I forgot to add that I was absolutely terrified of the entire Gabriel Knight experience, sequels and all. However, I could never put them down... it was far too intriguing.
