To me, it's not an either/or question. My subjective ideal of beauty makes it so that anyone who I can laugh and relax with automatically looks physically attractive to my eyes (and so that all those "beautiful" people on TV with two-dimensional personalities look rather meh to me).

Also, Hammy, you're not going to impress the girl you like if you don't like yourself. Speaking from my own experiences and those of other people I know, when you're in a relationship with someone, the self-loathing thing gets really, really old after awhile, and there's a limit to how long most people are willing to deal with it.
