I wouldn't bother debating the warranty with them at this point then. Legally they obliged to supply you with goods that work for a reasonable period of time. Six months is not reasonable, demand they either repair it or replace it.
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 is your friend, make a point of mentioning it to dispell any thoughts they might have, about being able to pull one over on you.
