I have ALL the survival horror games released on the PS2 - many will not play on a PS3.
Ps1 to Ps2 was close to 100% so this was not good for me.
Your best bet is a PS2 - cheap and fun and a WII - it's getting the lion's share of the games for this generation.
A Wii and a PS2 are cheaper than a PS3 and have a great selection of games to choose from.
This is the combo most people are going with.
PS3: High Price, No Vibration Feedback, Few Games, Backward Combatability iffy......
