Saw the new Pirates this weekend. Wow. I figured it wouldn't be that great after seeing number 2, but this was just awful. I mean, I seriously just wanted to leave about halfway through it, which never happens for me. The actors all did reasonable jobs but unfortunately star power can't save a script that seemingly has no direction at all. I thought they started to lose their way with the second, forsaking all that was great about the first (namely, the whimsical adventure about it, and light-hearted humor, not taking itself too seriously) and instead trying to create a dark epic pirate movie. There's no fun in these sequels. No fun at all.
