Gabriel Knight II & the Tex Murphy games, most definitely.
IMO this is a lost art. If done well (I.E. GKII) it's stunning. And I think that the GK series owes its untimely end to damn 3D. I like 3D as much as anyone but it ruined lotsa great things. I.E. I miss the Broken Sword I & II interface....
