For the most basic of slash attacks, yes. For example, one could simply decapitate his adversary this way. However, with most daggers, the preferred method of attack was to either insert it between the ribs of the left side of the chest, or up and underneath the sternum bone, bringing instant death. Previously given examples of fighting knives are built for these types of attacks.
