I played the first Phantasmagoria when I was in 4th or 5th grade. It was my first experience with any kind of horror entertainment, and my parents only bought it for me because I promised to play the censored version.
Of course I broke my promise, and ended up being horrified and disturbed when I came upon the first murder scene in the greenhouse. After that scene, I moved through the rest of the game with extreme caution and fear, dreading the grusome scenes that I knew were to come. I remember making my older sister sit with me during the final chapter.
Of course, the game now seems absurd to me - mostly because it IS an absurd game. But it's still a guilty pleasure, and a favorite of mine. And it also initiated my love for cheesy horror films.
