V for Vendetta.

What was left out of the comic was mostly chaff anyway, I thought it was a reasonable interpretation at least as far as the 'big events'. I especially like the 'bulletins of fear' on the news media to keep the population cowed (art imitates life).

The chancellor however was a bit of a let down, he was hammed up to the level of a cliche facist. In the comic he's far more controlled, almost unemotional. He practically worships a central computer named FATE that makes all the big decisions, free from emotional influence. Coupled with the 'old' music and relics of the past V collected it portrayed reliance on modernisation to be as abhorrent as seeking racial or moral purity.
