Some do. It is true that Americans do not know how to make tea. I've ordered tea in many restaurants only to be served a cup of warm water with a teabag either floating on top, or served in a little dish along with a lemon slice or two and a few containers of half and half. I have learned to stick with coffee.

Most people then swirl the mess around, then lift the teabag out with the spoon then SQUEEZE the teabag with the string over the cup.(you should *never* do this)

I even once saw a friend squeeze the lemon into the tea, then pour in some half and half, stir it around, and then drink it, completely oblivious to my look of absolute horror.

Then did it again, with the next cup, even after being told why that is such an amazingly bad idea.
