Yeah, the problems with the Atlanta Summer Olympics (1996) didn't help the US chances. The summer Olympics also aren't always in Europe - so that's not the way to look at it.

For all that, by 2016, enough time may have passed - if not then, then the 2020 summer Olympics. Good to take the long view!

Speaking of Olympics, I'm thrilled that the recent summer Olympics, in Greece, went so well. They were way behind schedule on the construction, and they pulled it off! Still, it must have been blazing hot at the swimming events - there wasn't time to complete the roof, so it was open air.

I don't follow the locations for the winter Olympics, as much as I follow the locations for the summer ones.
