Default I come from afar...

Hello, I'm Grismath, and while I've been a devoted long-time fan and advocate of adventure gaming, I've never really gotten into the freeware development scene. Instead, I've been working for the past... I don't even know how long it's been, on bringing the adventure gameplay style to another game, LucasArts' Mysteries of the Sith, for which I make modifications. For those of you unfamiliar with the game, MotS is a essentially a first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe, released in ~1998-99.

I have heavily modified the game, replacing every aspect with one of my own fiendish devising in a project called the 'Life of Grismath', which follows the path of a recently deposed lord of an obscure feudal country in an alternate future as he strives to regain his throne through many roundabout ways. While not purely an adventure game, an adventure 'rule set' (involving a detached camera with action verb environment interaction) serves as the core of the ~10+ hours gameplay.

My blending of genres has been described as reminiscent of games like Anachronox, one of my personal favorite games of all time for the sheer variety of ways in which the player interacts with his gameworld in order to complete his quest.

Meet Ivan Boomfingers. To most, a notorious cyborg arsonist; to Grismath, the housemate across the hall. Needless to say, he's a little rough around the edges. This showcases the conversation interface I coded from scratch.

Dance Dance Ressurection: The game doesn't end when Grismath's life does. Based on his deeds in life, Grismath may float among the angels or be dragged among the demons. Perchance he might persuade them to offer him another try, but at what price?

Here's another rule set that makes a brief appearance, just showing the extent to which I've departed from the original game.

If any of you perchance have Mysteries of the Sith, I'll most certainly link the completed version on these forums for your digestion and reactions when I've finished in the next few months.

The official 'feature' site.

LoG 02, a small vignette that has been redone and added to the final project I'm working on now. Looking back, it's not my best, but it was a first for the MotS editing community, gameplay-wise.

I'd *really* appreciate any feedback or encouragement from a community devoted to the type of game I've always felt sort of alone in admiring among my peers in the editing community.
