The last time I changed something about the forums I got tarred and feathered by the community. I'll eventually make a new template for the forums that matches the main site, but I will probably get some bodyguards this time around.

That's caused by the site being centered and not every page having a scrollbar inside the browser. That's totally browser related and not due to my design.

Okay, well, here's my theory: you don't really need to "read" the menu bar because it's there all the time, and you know what options it has. The part of the page that demands most of your attention is the content area, which changes all the time.
I can sort of imagine people not being a
huge fan of it though.
