Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Sunday 17 June 2012

For the past 3 weeks, I’ve only been posting scenes from games I’ve played. This week, I’m going through some games I haven’t played, selecting scenes based on nothing more their looking interesting. Let me know if they actually are important in the game — and if I should beat myself up for not having played those games yet!

For those of us experiencing Severe Sunday Night Withdrawal Syndrome(*), here’s Kenny Cosgrove! He’s talking to some alien with a weirdly-shaped head. Probably something form one of his science-fiction stories…

More seriously, it’s not often that AGs awards a game 5 stars (only 7 times so far), so I guess I should really get around to playing LA Noire, which has been sitting on my Steam account since the last Christmas sale.

(Also: yay for games not remaining console exclusives forever! I wish Heavy Rain would have had the same treatment, though we know it’s never going to happen…)

(*) Sundays nights without the Game of Thrones / Mad Men combo are really going to drag on and on and on. Embarassed

Also got this game in that Steam sale (and I didn’t play it yet…)

Also, at least you’ve got True Blood now, right? Smile

Don’t know about Mad Men cause I don’t watch it but as much as I love TB it’s no substitute for GoT.

Meh, L.A. Noire is severely overrated imo.
The driving is clunky, the shooting and the fighting is clunky, the interviewing is very clunky, the cases are rarely spectacular, the main story takes far too long to go somewhere, and apart from the jazzy soundtrack there’s actually very little “noir” present (not even if you put it in black-and-white).
Having said that, the writing is good, it’s quite long (took me about 24 hours to finish, iirc), and it looks absolutely gorgeous! The motion capturing is stunning most of the time, and everything in the game is just beautiful to gaze at…

The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
