<Insert tired, unfunny joke about the end of the world here>

(from Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, obviously)

Another one of those I should have replayed ages ago. Though I played this one fairly late on the first time around, I think ´96 or ´97.

Maybe this Christmas I finally grab the Lucas Arts pack.

Currently Playing: Dragon Age Origins: Awakening
Recently Played: Red Embrace: Hollywood, Dorfromantik, Heirs & Graces, AI: The Somnium Files, PRICE, Frostpunk, The Shapeshifting Detective (CPT), Disco Elysium, Dream Daddy, Four Last Things, Jenny LeClue - Detectivu, The Signifier

I played and replayed a good amount of times, but I think I only finished it twice, usually stop when Indy arrives at the labyrinth of Atlantis. Just don’t care about that part.

Yeah, back when I used to replay the game a lot, I would usually skip the part in Atlantis, because (1) it’s the same for every path and (2) it’s not exactly the game’s strongest part.

Great game until you get to the submarine, arcade puzzle. It made me quit 3 times.

Really good game. I especially appreciated that many puzzles had alternative solutions.

Great game. I think I’ve only done the wits and teamwork path, not the fists one.

Awesome game, one of the very best.
I’ve played every path multiple times, with team and wits being far superior, of course…

Fists can actually be fun too if you skip all the fights with the sucker-punch button (what is it again? Insert?). And even then, most fights can be avoided…

It’s the game I’ve replayed the most in my life (by far), and it’s basically the game that made me fall in love with the adventure genre…

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

This must be the week the Adventure Game Scene of the Day posts all my favorite games Heart Eyes

One thing I wonder about Fate of Atlantis is this: What would it have been like if it wasn’t an Indy game? Because there’s no Harrison Ford and not really much backstory for Indy, so they could have easily made it an original story featuring a random adventurer. Like for example, Lost Horizon or Flight of the Amazon Queen. Hmm.

There’s nothing even remotely arcade-y about the sub controls, although I agree they can be a bit awkward at first (if you try to think of the sub’s motion in 3D, it makes a lot of sense, though). But controlling the sub is only on the Team path; just try the other two paths, they’re great!

I’d really like to play this one day…

The real problem with reality is the lack of background music.

At the risk of being shot on the spot I must say that I never liked The Fate of Atlantis. I’ve started it so many times and always gave it up (with great relief, it never failed to bore my pants off).
I suppose it just isn’t my kind of game - being “serious” one with cliche story & the fist-size pixels.

One of the first adventure games I’ve played! (being only 7 years old) I will have to play it again some of this days, and this time finish it. Grin

After a few minutes I got the hang of the controls. I even got it to where it needs to be but for some reason it just would never fit in the cave. Hold the inuendos.

You need to change how close or far the sub is from the “camera”, which is done by rotating it. Every time the sub turns 180 degrees, it gets closer or further away from the camera (if you try to think about it in 3D, it makes a lot of sense), which changes its apparent size on the screen. That’s how you get it into the same plane as the entrance.
